Where It All Started

My interest in watches goes back to getting my first proper watch — a Sekonda classic from my parents. At the time, it was just a watch, but looking back it sparked something that stuck with me over the years.

I kept that interest as I got older, always drawn to affordable watches that looked good and had a bit of character. It was never about expensive pieces — it was about finding watches that offered real value and actually meant something.

Finding Vintage Watches

Over time, that interest naturally turned into a fascination with vintage and pre-owned watches. The more I looked into them, the more I realised how much more unique they felt compared to modern watches.

Every piece had its own story — different dials, different designs, different eras. That’s what pulled me in properly, and it’s something I’m still fascinated by every single day.

During some difficult periods, especially dealing with anxiety and depression, watches became more than just an interest. Spending time researching, learning, buying and working on watches gave me something to focus on and helped me get through those times.

From Hobby to Something More

What started as a personal interest quickly grew into something bigger. I began buying watches not just for myself, but for friends and family as well.

That led to learning more hands-on skills — removing links, changing straps, replacing batteries and getting watches back up and running. It was all self-taught, just through genuine interest and wanting to get better at it.

Before long, it stopped feeling like just a hobby.

Starting CM Timepieces

Starting CM Timepieces was a big step, and if I’m honest, it was terrifying at the time. I was still working full-time while trying to build the business on the side, figuring things out as I went.

The goal from the beginning was simple — to offer affordable vintage watches and pre-owned watches in the UK that people could trust. No inflated prices, no nonsense — just good watches in great condition and fully working.

Taking the Leap

In September 2025, I made the decision to go all in and leave my full-time job to focus on watches full-time.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one. By that point, CM Timepieces had grown through consistency, fair pricing and doing things properly.

From Scotland to Czechia

After making the move to Czechia in mid April, I wanted to start again. In June 2026, I officially made the move for CM Timepieces from Scotland to Czechia. While it was difficult to get set up, I was so glad to get started again and provide amazing vintage watches in such a beautiful place.

Where We Are Now

Today, CM Timepieces has grown into a trusted place to buy vintage watches in the UK, with over 400 five-star reviews across all platforms.

But the approach hasn’t changed. I still focus on sourcing affordable vintage watches that offer real value, and I only sell watches I’d be happy to wear myself.

This is still something I genuinely enjoy — every watch is different, and I’m still learning every day.

This business is my baby, and it always will be. What started from a simple interest has turned into something I care deeply about.
